The Legend of Zelda:

A Storm of Wind and Time

Prologue: The Legend and the Princess

There is a well-known legend in Hyrule that occurred over hundreds of years ago. A dark man named Majora, wearing a wicked mask attacked the land of Hyrule for no real purpose except to cause pain and suffering. He was a dark shaman who performed horrible rituals on his victims. The King rallied his armies to attack the menace, but it was to no avail.

But then a warrior wielding the blade of evil's bane stepped forward and slew Majora. He had traveled through time to save Hyrule and its people, and because of it, he became known as the "Hero of Time." After Majora's destruction, the Hero vanished into his own time.

Time passed; Hyrule grew and prospered. And many forgot the horrors of Majora, but never would they forget the legend. All seemed peaceful, but unbeknownst to the people, a new legend would soon be written. In fact, there was a prophecy spoken of by the Sages, but the people were so joyous that they did not listen, for they believed such things were fairy tales. This is the story of the fulfillment of that prophecy...

It started a long time ago, not too long ago; in fact it started four and half years ago when the Princess disappeared. She had just vanished one day. No one could find her anywhere at all. Some say that she was taken by monsters, others blamed the King; whatever the reason she was gone.

The King was devastated. He had lost his wife just a few years prior and now his kingdom's survival was threatened with the disappearance of his only heir to the throne. The winds blew, the seas rushed against the sides of Hyrule and the small islands surrounding it, and the kingdom seemed doomed.

Then the tides became dark; a new terror emerged from the Great Sea. A gang of mischievous pirates set their sails to these islands. They terrorized the villages, burned them and took any valuables and possessions. It was miracle the fact that no one had been killed or captured by the malicious thieves; they seemed only interested in the money.

In response, the King set up tighter defenses against these criminals. Word had spread on the wings of the breeze, rumors that the pirates were planning an attack on Hyrule, even an attack against the Royal Family itself. The King scoffed at this, alleging that these new defenses would protect anything, including the sacred Ocarina of Time from any evil hands.

Unfortunately, it was not the pirates the King should have kept his eye on...
